How many DVD's is too many?

I've been off sick from work for 4 days in a row so far, which is really unusual. I've been so bored. Right now I'm in my bed looking at my DVD's on the other side of my room. I've got 2 bookcases filled with DVD's and there's more on top and on each side.

I watch a lot of films anyway, and I like to buy them mainly because when I invite friends they can pick something they want to watch, plus they can borrow them for however long they want if need me.

Just counted them and I have 204 DVD's, and I do have plans to buy more in the near future.

I wonder how much they'd be worth if I sold them all in one go. Not that I would. Would probably be interesting to find out though.

If your in the UK, you can price them up on the CEX website.
I am in the UK, but I think spending time pricing up 200+ DVD's individually would take up too much time.

I know I'm off work and all, but still... xD
Yeah, can be a bit tedious. We have a couple of hundred DVD's as well, and have sold around 2-300(maybe more) this year. Usually took around 40-50 at a time - money received ranges from £40-£120, dependant on the DVD titles.

Newer ones/rarer ones are worth more, while some more standard ones you only get 10-50p each.
I have a mix of DVD's, some are uncommon (i.e. CeX don't have them/have never had them) but most are well-known blockbusters. I doubt i'd get a high return on them.
Just take a random sample of 20 DVDs, price those, and multiply by 10. That should give you a good estimate of what they're all worth.
I'm in the same boat as you, I counted about 220 last time (and I've bought more since), but it's like a hoarding habit now. I have loads of DVDs that I'll likely never watch again (like such greats as Event Horizon, Knowing, Rampart, and a large Steven Seagal back catalogue), but then I can't let them go for fear of some day wanting to watch them again.

My solution? MOAR DVD RACKS!
DVD + BluRay current count: 719.

So I'd say you still have room for more :)

But room. :( My bedroom is going to be JUST DVD racks. xD...
You can fit 200-300 DVDs on a single 2TB hard disk (400+ if you shrink them). I've toyed with the idea of using MakeMKV to do just that.
i had the same problem, i brought three of those 200 disc cases and put the dvd's in there. I keep some dvd's in their org case, especially tv shows, however i just haven't got the space for them.

My DVD's have been making space for my Blurays as i like to keep them on my shelf as with blurays i only buy films ive seen and i really like.
According to my cataloging software, I have 1861 movies, mostly Blu-ray. That doesn't include TV series or anime. To be honest, the majority of my collection is taken up with all the different variations of the Star Wars films. Damn George and his never ending edits! Gotta catch 'em all!
I don't own a single star wars movie. :o

It's not that I don't like them, it's just I don't think they're cheap enough. I try and get my DVD's and Blu Rays as cheaply as I can. :p

Your not the only one, I dont have any either.
3 dvd/book cases
3 DVD racks (one double sided)
2 Shelves
1 Shelved Display case (actually 3 shelves occupied with DVD's)
About 20 stuffed on another cupboard type thing

And loads laying around the tv/bedroom which have recently been watched

Can never have too many DVD's :D
I have about 25 DVDs and 5 Blu-Rays.
Personally, I have no interest in buying another perspex disc ever again.

Why can't they just stick it on a flash drive or something?
I felt like a borderline hoarder a couple of years ago with around three hundred. Now I have 0. I have a few 3TB drives with all my stuff on em. I ripped every single opticial disc I owned including PC media....never looked back.
I sorta went the reverse. I had loads of films loaded onto a Hard Drive and it just felt a bit hollow just having files there. I wanted more. So I got the real thing!
Just counted them and I have 204 DVD's

204 pfffft I've a good mate who's got 1500 DVD's he buys them on special when he can get 2 or more for like $20 they occupy 4 bookshelves and 2 cupboards in his tiny 1 bedroom flat and to top that off he's got over a 1000 audio cd's aswell ( personally he's a bit of an idiot )
