Windows 10 Quick Guide surfaces

Windows 10 is coming and and accompanying its release will, of course, be loads of documentation and helpful videos from both Microsoft and third parties - Lenovo already has one - teaching new users who have just upgraded their Windows 7 or 8 machine how to use the new operating system. Microsoft has also created one and the document has now made its way online, before the official launch this week.

It starts with the following introduction to Windows 10, again stressing the familiarity of the OS, with the return of the Start menu and the toning down of the 'Modern UI' that came with Windows 8:

Tested by millions of users who provided input and ideas, Windows 10 combines familiarity, speed and innovative new features – including a digital assistant and a brand-new browser – with the bedrock strengths you expect from Windows, like superior security and compatibility. And for the first time ever, you get free, automatically-enabled updates that help keep your systems current.

The result is a new Windows experience that’s fresh yet familiar – and is great for helping you stay organized, have fun, and get things done.

The guide then goes over all the new features coming to Windows 10, from Cortana and Edge to Xbox game streaming and the built-in Universal Apps. It also goes over the improved security in Windows 10 and new ways of authentication - courtesy of Windows Hello - and much, much more, which you can read about here.

Thanks for the tip, Victor!
