Windows 10 for Businesses now available

Today is the release day for Windows 10 - read the review here - as the company is allowing users in over 190 countries to start the upgrade process. Coinciding with the launch for consumers, businesses can now start upgrading their devices as well. Jim Alkove, the lead of the Windows Enterprise Management team inform us:

We’re excited to begin to make Windows 10 available today to all of our customers. As we’ve shared, Windows 10 Home and Windows 10 Pro are available for business customers as a free* upgrade for genuine Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 PCs and tablets. Enterprises and organizations who have Volume Licensing can upgrade to Windows 10 Enterprise and Windows 10 Education starting on August 1.

The blog post also quotes a survey indicating that over 60% of the IT departments surveyed had already tried at least a preview build of Windows 10 and that 40% were already putting plans in motion to complete the upgrade within the first year of launch, and a cumulative 74% to follow in 2017.

While Volume Licensing users will obviously have to wait for a couple more days as the majority of consumers finish the upgrade process, Windows 10 will bring significant benefits, such as better security and mobile device management, that will make the wait worthwhile.
