Google will reportedly unveil its new Nexus flagships on September 29

When Google first unveiled Android 'M' back in May, it said that it would be released before the end of Q3. Since then, there's been no end of leaks about the two handsets that will showcase Google's new OS, now known as Android 6.0 Marshmallow.

Google still hasn't stated exactly when its new Nexus devices will be unveiled, but it looks like that particular cat is now out of the bag.

According to CNET, citing unnamed "people familiar with the company's plans", Google will announce its two new handsets in San Francisco on September 29, just squeezing in to Google's planned Q3 launch window. That launch will also come a few weeks after Apple unveils its latest iPhones on September 9, against which the two Nexus handsets will go head-to-head.

Both of Google's new devices have been caught on camera recently: the smaller 5.2-inch model, built by LG, was spotted in mid-August; and the larger 5.7-inch flagship, being manufactured by Huawei, appeared in spyshots last week, which revealed a rather unusual rear design for the handset.

The launch of the two Nexus phones will clear the path for the rollout of Android 6.0 Marshmallow to existing devices too - but if it's anything like the 5.x Lollipop rollout, you'll probably be waiting a while for Marshmallow to head your way.
