RAM compatability

Recommended Posts

Having bought RAM ages ago which was incorrect i'm always worried i'm buying the wrong stuff from now on.

Will this RAM work on this mobo plug and play.  I know the RAM says Overclocking, but just want it plug and play for now.

On the motherboard it lists DDR4 - 3200(OC) for RAM it can handle, so the first corsair link is 3200, so in my mind it'll work?

TIA

On the support page for your motherboard will be a list of RAM that was actually tested and "qualified" for your motherboard. Every motherboard manufacturer does this, although sometimes the info is obsucure or only in a downloadable PDf etc.

The list is usually a bit annoying since typically half the RAM on it is no longer available but if you are eltra cautious then you can usuallly find something suitable still available.

Any RAM that is NOT on the list will probably work but has a kind of russian roulette ability to decide to take a hissy fit with your mobo.

As a hint, try to find RAM on the qualification list that was tested in all 4 sockets at once.

For ASUS, they have traditionally used Geil as their first choice when designing their mobos so that is usually the safest brand.
