Install Windows 10 in Compact OS form?

Recommended Posts

I have a laptop here with only a 32 GB SSD for storage.

The SSD is empty.

I have a standard Windows 10 ISO.

I believe I can install Windows 10 normally, then enable Compact OS on-the-fly whilsy Windows is running but this doesn't seem the most efficient method.

Can I install Windows 10 on this blank SSD with Compact OS enabled?

The best way to do this is to use the USMT tool and create an image, provisioning package, with that. You would end up compressing not only the OS but the applications as well that are exported. This should only be done for apps that do not get updated often. Microsoft has a WICD tool for this purpose. Build your Windows install in a vm. Load up the apps. Capture the package. Import the package into WICD, then create media with the compress option. Now you have super compacted Windows 10.
