Mine. Still rockin' Mint 17.3/Cinnamon. Faenza icons, Numix Theme. Customized it to display the FreeSans Bold font, since I hate the stock Sans font. It's not 2006, folks.

This month I wanted to see how well Steam Big Picture Mode would work as a Linux desktop environment. It's not too bad with voice commands and can be useful for the HTPC. I improved my Cortana on Linux project with a 1000+ audio clip Portal GLaDOS soundboard so she can say random mean things when executing voice commands within Steam Big Picture Mode. There is also Steam integration, so that I can navigate Steam desktop client and various BPM menus with voice commands, along with launch regular Linux apps, steam games, and browse the web with voice commands within BPM or GNOME desktop. GNOME and other desktop environments can run in their own app windows too, which can be useful.

Pretty ambitious, kudos to getting and keeping it working. How's the streaming performance of Fallout 4 over your LAN (that's how I assume you're doing it)? Any lag or latency issues that affect playability?

Thanks. It's a project for fun and to improve my Linux desktop experience. Fallout 4 here is being streamed from the cloud (data centers) using the LiquidSky client in Wine but a native Linux and Mac client is promised in the next couple months. The latency isn't bad and very playable, provided you're within 1000 to 1500 miles or so of the nearest data center--beyond that input latency becomes a little too much for FPS style games. You can ofcourse use In-Home Streaming over a LAN as well but I haven't tried that yet with this particular game.

Heh. I'd call it a win, then. I imagine streaming it from a Windows-based PC in the home over 10k hardware using something like VNC or TeamViewer would probably work the best. 1k wouldn't cut it.

Course, there are other options ... And I wanna build something like this using Xeon E5-2670's. http://www.techspot.com/review/1155-affordable-dual-xeon-pc/ I'm not gonna run 7 virtual gaming instances, but by golly it should be good for Linux Host/Windows 10 VMWare Gaming instance at decent settings. :woot: Oh, and I wanna run a pair of 1080's in SLI when Gigabyte starts selling their Windforce version of the 1080. (EDIT: Scratch the SLI. They need independant, dedicated displays.)
