Microsoft is discontinuing Xbox Fitness

Microsoft announced today that it will be killing off its Xbox Fitness service. As of today, users will no longer be able to purchase new content from the service.

If you're an Xbox Live Gold member, there's a bit of good news. You can still get content for free until December 15. Any existing content can be played back for a year, or more specifically, until July 1, 2017. This includes purchased content.

Since November 2013, Xbox Fitness has allowed you to experience the world’s best workouts with famous trainers, right in the comfort of your own home. As a service, Xbox Fitness has continually evolved since it launched on Xbox One, with new content and ongoing updates. Given the service relies on providing you with new and exciting content regularly, Microsoft has given much consideration to the reality updating the service regularly in order to sustain it. Therefore, the decision has been made to scale back our support for Xbox Fitness over the next year.

The news isn't entirely surprising. There hasn't been any news about the platform in some time, reflecting the fact that it had a small user-base.
