OnePlus warns of possible price increases for its handsets following Brexit

OnePlus recently launched its third flagship device around the world, and one of the OnePlus 3’ main attributes is its affordability. But that aspect might soon change in the UK, as the company is warning of possible price increases.

In a post on the company’s forums a representative explained that the OnePlus 3 might soon become more expensive in the UK . The company mentioned how OnePlus relies on razor-thin profit margins and that the recent drop in the value of the pound are proving troublesome for the company. He said:

We’ve always strived to create the best product and deliver them to customers at a reasonable price. However, the worrying downward trend of the GBP may make it difficult to maintain our current pricing structure in the UK. Our margins have always been thin, and our expenses are mainly in USD. This being the case, sudden drops such as the one that the Pound has recently experienced could have a direct impact on our prices.

The company representative followed this up by what sounded like a half-warning, half-sales-pitch, urging those interested in the company’s OnePlus 3 to go ahead and purchase the device as soon as possible and benefit from its current price.

Though for some users that might be easier said than done, considering that OnePlus is delaying UK shipments due to demand that has been “above and beyond”. The company is also having trouble shipping its accessories, so users might be in for a rough time.

In either case currency fluctuations aren’t exactly new, and as always, companies need to change their pricing schemes to adapt, so they might be forced to take steps and start charging more in the UK.
