PlayStation VR brochure suggests you'll need lots of room to play

One of the major problems with gaming platforms that involve more interaction than just with a controller is that they need plenty of room to use. Take the Nintendo Wii for example, you need quite a lot of space for two people to compete against each other in many games. It turns out the PlayStation VR system will also need plenty of space to use, 3 metres by 1.9 metres to be exact.

An image was posted online recently showing the official space requirements for the PlayStation VR, it originated from one of Sony’s advertising pamphlets. The image which displays the measurements of the space needed is accompanied by the following text:

“Limit your use of PS VR to within the Play Area. The height of the Play Area depends on the range captured by the camera. Clear an area larger than the Play Area of all obstacles before using PS VR and remain seated whenever possible. If an application requires you to stand while wearing the VR headset, follow the application instructions carefully, and maintain awareness of your surroundings.”

The pamphlet also provides some more information about the PS VR. It mentions it will be able to be worn over glasses and that when you are using PS VR others will be able to get your view as a 2D image on the TV screen via Social Screen.

The virtual reality device was slated for an October 13 release back at E3, which was held in June. The device will retail for $399 and is expected to have 50 games before the end of the year.
