Acer's new Predator 21 X is a gaming laptop with curved display, dual GTX 1080s, five fans

Acer has unleashed the beast with its new Predator 21 X, a fierce gaming laptop that packs an astonishing range of superlative specs into a not-entirely-portable package.

Aside from its immense size, the most obvious feature of the Predator 21 X is its display - Acer says it's the first notebook to offer a curved screen, although its 2560x1080px resolution is well below the 4K option available on some smaller, flatter laptop displays.

It also features integrated Tobii eye-tracking technology, as the company explains:

To bring gameplay immersion to the next level, the notebook also integrates Tobii eye-tracking technology for a new method of control that’s more intuitive and natural. Built-in eye-tracking hardware (infrared sensors and software) unlocks a completely new facet in gaming.

By tracking a gamer’s eye with software, the notebook introduces new interactions like aiming, identifying enemies and taking cover simply by gazing at objects on the screen. Eye tracking also enhances the experience by providing infinite views whilst navigating treacherous paths and roads in a game.

As you'd probably expect, the Predator 21 X offers some pretty meaty specs, including Intel's very latest 7th-generation (Kaby Lake) Core processors and dual Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080 graphics cards in SLI, promising "unmatched graphics performance". Keeping the whole thing from bursting into a spectacular inferno are five system fans, which Acer says will "dissipate excess heat effectively for uninterrupted performance".

There's also a full-sized mechanical keyboard with CherryMX switches and customizable RGB backlight settings for each key. And as if that's not enough, you can flip over the numeric keypad, turning it into a Precision Touchpad.

Acer hasn't revealed how much the Predator 21 X will cost - but with a list of specs and features like these, it's likely to have an equally monstrous price tag when it launches early next year.
