John.D
I ordered an Intel G3240 3.1 ghz 1150 CPU, last week, it arrived yesterday by courier. I think this is one of the new haswell refresh CPU's (well it was released this year) In its specs it says Processor Graphics ? Intel? HD Graphics The ? says this underneath Note: ? This feature may not be available on all computing systems. Please check with the system vendor to determine if your system delivers this feature, or reference the system specifications (motherboard, processor, chipset, power supply, HDD, graphics controller, memory, BIOS, drivers, virtual machine monitor-VMM, platform software, and/or operating system) for feature compatibility. Functionality, performance, and other benefits of this feature may vary depending on system configuration. Does this mean as long as the mobo is Intel based, and has Intel drivers, it'll work? The mobo I was going to get is the Asus B85M-E It says: Integrated Graphics Processor and has DVI/HDMI/VGA and displayport on the mobo The question is, if I install this CPU on this mobo (since the mobo does have Intel drivers, and says Integrated Graphics processor etc) and the CPU says Intel HD graphics, if I install the CPU, will the onboard video connections work?? Without me having to install a separate card?? Since there's no point in buying one if there's 4 video connections on the mobo Any info would be appreciated
Skyfrog
Yes, that should work fine for you. The integrated graphics will use the built in display connector on the motherboard; you won't need a separate video card.
John.D
Great thats what I wanted to hear. The only thing I MAY have to do is that mobo needs BIOS 0805 on it before that CPU will work. So, I may have to tell the shop I buy it from to flash it before they send it Altho, it MAY or MAY not have this BIOS on it already. It's the 1st 1150 system I'll be building. And it sounds a lot more confusing than when I built the 2 I've got now (775 systems). Thanks for the info / confirmation :) !
Skyfrog
No problem, good luck with it. Those Pentium G series are nice little chips for the price. :)
John.D
Yup this mobo is about $117 $NZ. And $7.95 postage. Not a bad price. The CPU was $91 NZ
