Java update failing on OSX Mavericks

Recommended Posts

I've been getting this weird issue when Java tries to update itself. Every now and then I will get a pop up asking to update Java. I click Install and the download starts. It appears the to download, but then I get an message saying Update Failed.

I cancel out of it and then a few days later it will popup again and it keeps doing it. I've run CCleaner to clear out cache etc, but I am not sure how to get it to install. Any ideas? Thanks!

Is this Java 1.7 or 1.8, are you running OS X 10.9, or beta 10.10?

I'm running Java 7 update 60 and it is trying to update to version 67. The current version of Mavericks I am on is 10.9.5

Have you tried downloading the installer from the java webpage?

Everytime I looked, I couldn't find it. I just went to the java page again and went to downloads. Going to try that now and see if that works.

Here you go

I admit... took me a minute or two longer then normal to find the link.

If you want to make the leap to version 1.8

Sorry for getting back too late. I went to Java's website, not the Oracle link to download the update. That worked. Thanks!
