Linux gaming

Now now now now now!

It looks like Valve have finally started to open up to the world of Linux!

Its now official that there is and will be a native Steam client for Linux, and that they already have a semi-working version of L4D2 running natively aswell!

This is great news for the Linux desktop, all I need now is native support for WoW and I will have NO reason left to keep Windows around at all.

All we need to do now is somehow when it is released get this baby running on Shift2 :)

Oh and on that topic, ill be floating around the IRC tonight if any of the team are around to pop in and say hi.

All the best guys/girls/mike :D

If there was a native wow client I'd be over now.

Tell me about it, it seems though that Wine has pretty good support, so might have to put some Linux on a desktop of mine and give it a bash. Will probably report back here when its done.
WoW runs really well under wine, your only have issues with water and shadow quality on some cards (mostly ATI i think) It was running at over 70FPS in ultra for me anyway and my PC is not grate.

Oh and just want to add WoW did have a linux client when it was in beta, and there still is one but its not released to public as it would be something extra to support for a minority of people costing to much. Its been said before at blizzard events Dev's have been using it on linux ;)

Unless you get a massive shift in the OS market and people start to use linux (and one linux destro there are so damn many that it would be stupidly hard and expensive to support all) then you might see a client released.
For now my "Linux" drive can be my fraps drive :D
