Currently in beta, Wildstar is an upcoming Scifi MMO based on WoW type systems and active aiming/targeting based combat.

Any of you currently playing this? I've been following it for a while, waiting for a beta invite.. but in the mean time I've watched a couple of the newer lets play videos and I'm interested in what I see - Mainly, a combat system based around active play.. I'm so tired of playing standard MMOs.

At any rate, here's one of the lets play vids I watched, the guy's kind of annoying but it gives a good view of what to expect (char creation ends and he's in-world around 3:30):

Edit: Part 2 of that guy's video contains more interesting content (combat) starting at about 2:30:

I'm not following it per se, but I wouldn't argue with trying the beta.

Same here. I'm not a fan of toon-style mmo but I like to test new games of this gerne.

I personally can't wait to see it done. There's no MMO out that I'm currently interested in?they're either too childish and underdeveloped (A Realm Reborn) or too saturated a theme (the dozen-or-so sword and sorcery MMOs).

Wildstar seems to have the polished level of quality of WoW while bringing something new to the table?bloody sci-fi! That and the more active combat system. I don't know much more than that about it, to be fair, but I'm very excited to try it out. I hope it has housing, lol.

The only other MMO I'm looking forward to is Everquest Next, but who knows which decade it will be released ?

Or if it'll be reasonable as a F2P or just a big cash grab at every turn. That's what I'm afraid of; those founders packs don't bode well at all.

unfortunately it's NCSoft, or otherwise known as MMO mass production inc.  no company has as many MMO's and as many cancelled  and flopped game relative to the game they make as these guys.

at least this time they seem to have put some quality into animations and the characters don't move like sticks. typical NCSoft focus on the female characters though... seems to feel a lot like firefall though.

My main problem with EQN is that they changed the whole style of the game from EQ to WOW and made it an action game. I mean even the races don't look the same anymore.

^ at least it isn't made by NCSoft, only published. It's developed by an American quality studio started by over a dozen Blizzard veterans. I have hopes.

You mean like Arena Net is? And we see what they're doing to Guild Wars 2.

There is plenty of reasons to be weary of NCsoft published games.

I know, and I share your concern, I just hope it'll be as good as it sounds. I want a new MMO to play with the lady.

Got a beta code for this weekend, been dying to try it for a while. A couple of my friends have been in previous betas and they've loved it so pretty hopeful about it!

I played on my friends beta account. The game is outstanding in my opinion. I was happy to play it for about an hour. I am absolutely going to be getting it.

If you like wow and are ready to move on, I think you  might be happy. However, if you can't handle 'action' in your fights, the game will be too much for you. My friend didn't like it because she likes to play MMOs that require less coordination. Even healers have to aim their skills in WS somewhat.

All in all, great game. I really hope I get a beta key.

The keys for this weekend were first come first serve. Went on Facebook right as they posted about it so I was lucky and got one, think there were 4000 to give away.

Are they not emailing them anymore? I signed up for the beta probably a year ago

They are still sending out random keys too :) This is a separate one because so many people were complaining about people that signed up after them getting a key.

I've been playing for about 7 hours now, beta went live here at 3PM and I've only taken a break to eat dinner, it's now 10:45 and I've just stopped playing for the night... it's amazing! I can see myself playing this a lot, there's just so much to do! Think I might not play too much more though, don't wait to ruin it for release :P

i played in beta. Was really hyped about it until I actually got in game. I know it's called beta for a reason, but when you can't play with more than 20fps, everything on low, then it just sucks :( I tried everything and I just can't seem to get it to work. ESO on other hand, plays nicely on medium settings.

There's no financial benefit to pre-ordering.

if I pre -order it's usually the week or last days before release and just for any potential bonuses. But pre-ordering months in advance only benefits them not me. and in effect you are actually paying more when doing it. Since if you kept the money in your account, you'r bank would grow it for you, when you pay them in advance, they get to stash in all in a savings account and get free extra money :p

I suppose when you look at it like that it's true. It would only get me around ?1.50 extra though, which does defeat my point of it costing the same amount but I like playing in the beta and getting to put my feedback to the devs so paying that for the access to the beta weekends is more than enough reward for me :)

Not touching it with a barge pole. It's published by NCSoft. Those gits have a rep for cancelling games for little reason, and they took away my favourite game whilst it was still plenty profitable, so the can go shove their heads up a pigs ass.

I will never touch an NCsoft published game again, no matter how good it might be.  You'll get into it, and then they'll take it away.
