Installation troubles windows7

Recommended Posts

So after many trials, I finally got my new GPU installed in my system, but now windows goes to a black screen after ~2 mins, so I decided to try and reinstall the OS, (deleting the drive each time) however I cannot get windows to install. I got the furthest today where it completed the install and restarted the system, but it still will not load. It gets as far as the windows screen and then it reboots. Can not get to safe mode (same thing happens), I have unplugged all but my dvd drive and the HDD that I'm installing to. I have tried 3 different dvd's all created from MSDN, so I don't think it is the dvd. I reaaly want to know what I'm doing wrong here! Any suggestions? I also am only using 2 gbs of RAM in case that might be an issue.

Check your RAM by removing them one by one. If you have a CPU with iGPU , remove the new GPU and boot with the integrated one.

Reset your BIOS settings and check your cables. I had a similar problem because I forgot to supply the GPU with new power connectors from the PSU. Your hardware might need aditional energy.

Cheers!

Already gave the gpu power, and restored bios settings, will try the ram next.

Ok, with 1 dimm windows finished installing, but it still will not reboot. It wants to force me into startup repair, will not load regular at all.

Are you trying to install Windows on a SSD? Also, what CPU, MOBO you have?

  • 3 weeks later...

New problem... Windows installs, I installed the wireless network adapter, and went online to ATI and downloaded the latest drivers for the card (used autodetect) and as soon as I click install, the screen goes black and the monitor goes into standby (message indicates no signal) the only way to recover is to reset the system. What could the issue be?
