Microsoft seems to be all about making Internet searching more personal these days. That is certainly true with its recently revealed Cortana digital assistant in Windows Phone 8.1. Today, Microsoft announced that people who surf over to the Bing home page will also be able to get some personal treatment.
Normally, the Bing front page has a bunch of virtual cards on the bottom that display currently trending news stories. Today, the Bing blog reports that people who go into the Settings section of the site will now be able to configure the page so that the cards show personalized news, weather, sports stock prices, airline flight times and more.
This service will actually extend to other Microsoft platforms. The blog says: "As long as you're signed in, Bing will remember your interests and notify you, as appropriate, across a range of Bing-powered Microsoft services, such as Cortana and the Bing Sports app, for example."
While the number of items that can be set up in the Bing personalized cards are limited at the moment, Microsoft indicated on its Fire Hose blog that more will be added in the future.
