BoDEAN
I noticed there are links to download the Windows 8.1 update, but those are for technet subscribers. Are there any public links yet? Reason I ask, I want to download/burn the ISO, so when I format my system, I have a disc to reinstall windows. Can this 8.1 update be installed fresh? Or should I download windows 8.1 x64 iso, then just patch it after a clean install to windows 8.1 update??
xendrome
What is your key tied to though? 8.0 or 8.1? Because you'll need an 8.1 key to work with the ISO. The Windows 8 keys do not work with 8.1 ISO or 8.1 Update ISO So if you only have an 8.0 key, you'll be forced to stick with that and reinstall 8.0 then update to 8.1/8.1 update. BoDEAN
I believe my key is 8.0. No way for MS to give me an 8.1 key without purchasing a new version?
Noir Angel
You should be able to install with a generic key then put your 8.0 key in when activating. Sadelwo and +LogicalApex 2 Share
satysin
You can install 8.1 with a custom ei.cfg so that you are not asked to enter a key during installation and then just use your 8.0 key to activate which will work just fine. You can find out how to do it at http://www.techmesto.com/install-windows-8-1-without-product-key/ or in a slightly more technical way on Microsoft TechNet at http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh824952.aspx Doing this is perfectly legal and does not violate any license agreements you have with Microsoft so don't worry about doing it. As for a valid 8.1 with Update 1 ISO sadly there are no public links however I guess you could use the SHA1 hash on the MSDN downloads site to ensure any ISO you might download from somewhere else is a genuine ISO identical to that on MSDN
