DOVER ? A Yorkshire Terrier and a flat screen Samsung television have been safely returned to a Dover woman who reported they were taken Thursday night by a man during their first date, police said Saturday.

At 3 a.m. Saturday, the woman called the Dover Police Department to say the dog had been tied, by its leash, to the television and left in the front yard of her Ann Street home, authorities said. The Yorkie appears to be in good health.

The woman met the man, first known to her only as ?Joel,? through an online dating website, according to earlier reports by Detective Sgt. William Woodhull Jr. She told police she believed ?Joel? lives in Elizabeth.

But police said Saturday they now know the man?s true identity. Charges could be filed in the incident, pending his cooperation in the case.

The woman told police that the man was at her house and she became occupied in another room, leaving him alone for a period of time, Woodhull said. When she re-entered the room, the man was gone, along with her dog, valued at $4,000,   and her television, valued at $3,000.

Sgt. Richard Gonzalez spent Friday following up leads on the alleged dog-napping. Woodhull said the suspected thief used the woman?s cell phone so police tried to obtain fingerprints off the phone and check other locations to which the woman went with the man during the date.

The man was described as Hispanic and about 5 feet 9 inches tall. He wore a black hooded jacket, blue jeans and black boots on the date, and drove a gold-colored Mercedes.

a $3000 TV you can just walk out with?, and a little yappy dog worth $4000 who just goes off with a stranger?

Sounds sus to me, was the TV gold plated, and the dog wearing a diamond collar or something?

I've breed dogs in the past (Sharpeis) and if they are champions / descendent of champions with a comproved pedrigree, then those dogs are worth alot. Terrier Yorkshire - i dunno how much, but it all depends the pedrigree the dog has.
