Can't receive some SMS messages (From Google, Evernote, etc)

Recommended Posts

Recently I stopped receiving verification SMS from sites like facebook, google, evernote to my device (My device is a Note 3 (Sm-N900)). I changed the sim (got a new one with the same number) but it didn't help. I tried sending them to my other phone (dual sim... 1sim same carrier and the other a different one ) and it received the messages (both sims). I even put the sim on my note 3 to the old phone still its not receiving. Next I put the sim on my old phone to the Note, and then the Note received the SMS. Can't say its a problem in the sim because I got a new one. Can't say a problem in the carrier because I tried with another number with the same carrier and it worked! The only thing I didn't change is my number! What might be the issue here?

Note : I can receive normal sms from my friends.

That information is quite jumbled - I just spent the past 5 minutes trying to figure out which configurations have been tried - but if I'm right, it sounds like there is some sort of setting on the Note 3 that hasn't been selected which would receive the verification SMS.

Is the verification SMS a flash SMS (i.e. unless you tell it to save the message it will be deleted when you close the popup)? It might be worth seeing if there is something that you need to activate on the Note 3 to enable such a function.

What I don't understand though is that you say that this is a recent thing. I take it to mean that the Note was receiving these verification SMS until just recently?

Yes it was receiving these messages earlier. I even reset the device to see whether it will fix it but still no. And no flash popup things :-)

There are two possibilities that I have found. One is that your provider has decided to disable shortcodes. Is that's the case then you'll need to contact your provider to get the issue sorted.

You can also try reregistering the device. I'm not sure if there are possibilities after that, since I can't recreate the problem from here. But give those two options a go and see what happens.

EDIT: Actually, my first suggestion makes no sense. If the provider has disabled shortcodes then your other device wouldn't receive the codes, but it does...
