Repair Bluetooth function on laptop

Recommended Posts

Installed a new hard drive, along with a new copy of Windows 7 Ultimate.

Installed Chipset drivers, of course.

Installed hundreds of Windows Updates.

Bluetooth function will not work.

Some Update may have broke something.

I have tried putting in the original Home Premium hard drive.

Bluetooth works normally with that drive -- so it is not a bluetooth module defect.

Tried downloading Asus support bluetooth files -- Windows didn't like them.

Tried running Error Check.

I tried uninstalling the bluetooth in Driver Manager, and rebooting.

Windows tries to install some generic Atheros drivers, but code 43 shows up.

Am searching Microsoft help pages on-line now ....

Any help appreciated.

Whats the brand/model of this PC?? If Windows is 64 bit, did you install 64 bit drivers?

Go into the properties of the bluetooth device / details tab. Select hardware ids. Copy and paste the lines there in here

^ I was at the .cz site yesterday -- they only have .INF -- not Install programs.

Asus N55 laptop, with Intel chipset.

Intel website scan says Chipset and video, are up-to-date.

I have no clue about 64-bit drivers, but original hard drive is 64-bit Windows 7.

There's a few N55's. Which one?

You dont need setup files, if there's an inf file update it by updating the driver in device manager, and point it to the folder you extracted thats got the inf file in it

And if youre using 64 bit windows it needs 64 bit drivers, not 32 bit drivers, or it'll probably fail

I would copy and paste whats under hardware ids under this BT device (under the details tab).

Because some of these N55's (depending on the one you have), have Ralink, Intel and Qualcomm BT drivers. The info under the hardware ids entry in device manager will tell us which one it is

Resolved

I rethought the steps I tried.

I went back to Asus support and looked at the Bluetooth downloads.

There is one that says Intel, which I downloaded and Installed -- got a nasty bluescreen yesterday.

I thought surely with Intel parts, I would need Intel -- right ?

There is a second called Azure bluetooth suite, which I never heard of.

So, with nothing to lose, I downloaded Azure and Installed, with fingers crossed.

The screen flashed scarily ...

Windows pop-ups said 'installing device' -- repeatedly.

Azure box read 'installed successfully' -- 'Reboot'.

When Windows returned, there was the little Bluetooth symbol !

That was as thrilling as any movie ending -- and a very happy one.

Knowing in our unknowing ...

^ Bluetooth did not function before trying the Intel download.

Windows tried to install some generic drivers, but those failed.

Atheros apparently made the adaptor.

Don't know where Azure comes in, but thank goodness ...

Yeah, likely some proprietary crap Asus modified for no good reason, have an old Dell laptop with an ATI video card that only works with the non existing Dell created drivers, really ###### me off and wrote off dell from then on, but yeah it sucks when they do that because you're stuck with their crap, till they decide to drop support for it, that is

It's like the TP-link WDN3200 dual band USB adapter I have here. In Win 8.1 it installed the drivers. Prob was since the modem here is also dual band (the W8980), windows couldnt pick up the 5ghz connection on the modem

Downloaded the drivers from the TP-link site, and the 5ghz connection appeared as well as the 2.4 connection. So I could connect to either
