URGENT: Readability and ad issues on Neowin front page [resolved]

Recommended Posts

Guests and members alike have been reporting issues with our redesign update that put a blue gradient and background behind most of the site, making it hard to read. An example of this is below:

This issue has now been resolved by our devs.

The reason for this issue had to do with a "default ad" that a company was sending instead of a proper ad, and that code is not good. We have applied a (rather extensive) workaround last night. For further reading and a more detailed explanation, courtesy of our lovely members and staff who assisted look in this topic.

Our advertiser is also looking into this issue that has affected other websites too, but we are immune from this issue for now.

Both. DirectWrite is enabled by default since Chrome v37 and we have updated the font to Open Sans (and applied a font update this morning).

Any chance we can get an option for square avatars? I would even pay money for this option.

I've been forced to use a round NSA logo until I can go square again.

Yea, I like the square mini avatars as well better on the front page.  Like what is still on the forums.

Use below mentioned code in Stylish to do this:

@namespace url(http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml);

@-moz-document domain("www.neowin.net") {

.nav-user-avatar

  {

    border-radius: 4px !Important;

  }

}
