Dick Montage
Just spent the day walking around and burning calories, going to go for a bit of food in a moment then back here to freshen up. Where's a decent bar for a single guy to go in NYC (Times Square area) to not sit and drink alone? :)

Dick Montage
LOL, funny story... So I freshened up and decided to head down to the bar, and to see where the night takes me. Leaving the hotel room I was at the elevator, and held it for a girl who was walking down the hallway at the time (gorgeous French girl). By the time we'd reached the ground floor we had decided to go for a drink. By 3am we were leaving a rum bar about ?150 lighter each, having been to a tattoo place. Spent the next 3 days waking up, her going to work and me going sightseeing, then spending the nights in each other's company. Funny old world huh? PS. I heart NY Elliot B., Haggis, dipsylalapo and 5 others 8 Share

Dick Montage
She had EXACTLY the same place as me, as we were originally staying in the same hotel, 1 room apart. In fairness, it was EXACTLY the opposite, as it was a mirror reverse of mine. I mean geometrically, not like I was there with a goatee and an evil talking car... #Michael
It is such an amazing city Great that you had/are having such a good time. But I for one cannot stand NYC...it is a dirty and smelly city. There are 3 cities here in the US I cannot stand...NYC, LA, and Miami. I guess being from Chicago I am bias but I love it. I love Seattle, San Fran and San Diego. Orlando is great also. If you have the chance you should try Portland (both of them Oregon and Maine).

As a resident of New York state, I hate when people ask where I live and they automatically assume New York equates to New York City. I love visiting NYC, but I definitely would not want to live there. It is expensive, smelly and just flat out too crowded. I'm from MA - so I highly recommend Boston (bias). It's much cleaner, and it definitely has a different vibe compared to NYC. The people in MA are generally nicer too. Astra.Xtreme 1 Share

It's historic and modern, which is something most old cities can't pull off. Night life is top notch and it's not crowded on weekends. Love the New England attitude, but then again I'm a city-as*hole too. Would be in my top 5 for cities I'd move to, if I had the freedom. tsupersonic 1 Share

DaDude
It is such an amazing city I hate NYC. It's overpopulated, mass transit is so unreliable, people are rude and push you, and not to mention, it's very unsafe at night.

It's on an electronic schedule and should be perfectly on schedule 99% of the time. People in any city aren't super friendly. Especially in the North. It's not like people are going to randomly pick a fight with you though. Patience is just a bit short in that part of the country. Any city will be unsafe at night in certain areas. Downtown will be perfectly safe since people are out and about all hours of the night. I probably wouldn't walk around Central Park in the dark though. My home city would like to have a word with you on "unreliable" mass transit. As for the topic at hand, I was in NYC last week in what seems to be a yearly visit for the last 5 years. There's something glamourous about the pedestrian chaos on the streets with at least 2 million people jammed on a small island. Seeing the city as a tourist is great, but that being said, it is far too busy of a city for me to live there long term. Speaking of mass transit, NYC's subway system isn't that bad and has lots of built-in redundancy when parts of track are shut down for maintenance. Not bad for a system that's mostly a century old and runs 24/7.
