betax
The Windows 8.1 and 10 installers prevent an in place upgrade from Windows 7 and I am interested in finding a way to bypass this without having to first go form 7 to 8 and then 8.1/10 (Maybe even straight from vista to 8.1/10) Any programmers in here? Upon sifting through with process monitor and the setupact.log file I noticed that there there is a process that is ran called "CNoUpgradeChecker" that is performed by "SetupHost.exe" which, from what it looks like, is a 'vaildator' of sorts that tells the installer if it is possible to do an in place upgrade and keep the applications. Within setupact.log the line reads as: 2014-10-01 22:52:28, Info CONX CNoUpgradeChecker invoked. 2014-10-01 22:52:28, Info CONX CNoUpgradeChecker: checked UpgradeDisabled, found NoIssue. I am wondering if anyone here has the skill-set to perhaps disect the setuphost.exe file and force it this to always read "UpgradeEnabled" or 'true' I am well aware that re-installing windows is the best bet, but my curiosity is regarding this possibility.
