Run on my HP ASUS desktop (came with windows)

The graphic card is NVIDEA and i do need that to work properly as well.

Of course i will purchase the OS if it installs and runs fine on my pc, i just dont want to waste the cash if it won't even work.

Well...HP and ASUS are different computer companies.  So which branded computer do you and which model is it?  That would be very helpful to start with.

Curious where you're going to purchase a fully and properly licensed version of OS X for your HP computer.

You'll be lucky if it works with it being an AMD based system. That doesn't mean to say it won't work, my AMD 8350 based system works almost 100% (with a few dual display issues, quite specific though).

Back everything up and give it a go. Don't expect it to work the first time without a hitch, you've probably got some learning ahead if this is your first hackintosh installation and many things usually need to be attempted to get it to install on unsupported hardware.

Good luck.

you can buy it (Snow Leopard and then you can upgrade for free into Mavericks), but since OSX is only legal to use on Apple hardware the fact that you are buy it or not is the same: it's going to be illegal to install on a HP computer.

Having said that, your only chance is to use a modified OSX ISO with AMD extensions and edit lots of ketxs and cross your fingers... and even then the poor quality of the end result, bad experience (slow, some things just don't work out of the box and others will never work at all) and the time wasted aren't going to help either.

So the best be is to buy Apple hardware; since you are into web developing you can buy a powerful MacBook Pro for your projects.

Im a web developer and software developer. I really don't want a mac, my computer runs ubuntu perfectly fine but the compatability with webbrowser is quite annoying. Firefox seems to be the best web browser for ubuntu but i need to be able to use all the web browsers for testing. ALSO i want to have a duel operating system with Linux & Windows (Windux)

Could you not run additional OS's in a virtual machine?

Why? Virtual Machines are perfect for this sort of thing.

This. What's wrong with running OS X in a virtual machine?

NONONONONONONONONONONONONO!!!!

NO VIRTUAL MACHINES! NO!

I am confused by this also.  Why wouldn't you run OS X in a virtual machine?  You would get a much better experience doing it this way than trying to get your computer to actually boot from it.

You may in fact be a crazy person.

There are just about a MILLION reason why not to use a virtual machine.

From: http://www.rationalsurvivability.com/blog/2009/09/incomplete-thought-virtual-machines-are-the-problem-not-the-solution/

"don?t get me wrong, VMs have allowed us to take the first steps toward defining, compartmentalizing, and isolating some pretty nasty problems anchored on the sins of our fathers, but they don?t do a damned thing to fix them.

VMs have certainly allowed us to (literally) ?think outside the box? about how we characterize ?workloads? and have enabled us to begin talking about how we make them somewhat mobile, portable, interoperable, easy to describe, inventory and in some cases more secure. Cool.

There?s still a pile of crap inside ?em.

What do I mean?

There?s a bloated, parasitic resource-gobbling cancer inside every VM.  For the most part, it?s the real reason we even have mass market virtualization today.

If we didn?t have resource-inefficient operating systems, handicapped applications that were incestuously hooked to them, and tons of legacy networking stuff to deal with that unholy affinity, imagine the fun we could have.  Imagine how agile and flexible we could become."

Bottom line Virtual machines are great for SOME development purposes but you should NEVER use it as an actual operating system. EVER EVER EVER unless you have absolutely no idea what you are doing and just want the look and feel of a different operating system.

There are a TON of security holes in virtual machines that can not be fixed, you can hack an operating system from inside a virtual machine! WHAT?! yeah.. a virtual machine is just a program running on your operating system and has all the same capabilities as any other application.

Dont get my wrong virtual machines are GREAT if your using them for the right reasons.

This is probably the best article out there on building a hackintosh: http://lifehacker.com/the-always-up-to-date-guide-to-building-a-hackintosh-o-5841604

yeah trying the hackintosh thing might be the best chance to get it running, but rather with intel than amd, i tried it once on my amd system and it failed.

Go ask guys on http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/ if you can do that. I don't know how much has changed in osx86 world but last time when I was trying to use 10.5 on my PC, there was lots of playing with kernel extensions, pcefi in order to install, run OSX and everything could be nuked with simply OS update process. And thus, I gave up.

If you like to play with computers instead of using them, go dig osx86 scene and try to install everything in virtualbox for more fun.
If you want to use OSX as regular everyday OS - get a mac/book

Seriously??  You are quoting someone's blog from 2009!  And please please point out actual facts where you can use a vm to hack into the host OS.

If you want to run OSX and you want it to work, buy a real Mac from Apple.

If you want to run OSX, you want it to work but you want a PC, you need to buy compatible hardware.

If you want to run OSX, you have hardware that is not standard for a Mac, then you will need to do a lot of research throughout the Hackintosh forums/guides before asking questions.

As already pointed out, the article is from 2009. Things have moved along a lot since then. Forgive me if I'm wrong, but I'm sure you mentioned that you are a graphic/web designer and the purpose of this was for browser support-ability tests?

I know very little about Mac's and you've made it pretty clear you don't want to run a VM so I guess I've exhausted my usefulness

I just woke up because of a storm outside, but maybe Im just dreaming this thread...

Did someone come in here claiming to be a developer and not know the first thing about.... well.... anything ?

6 year old AMD hardware, on an HP-ASUS (wasnt aware they teamed-up and started making computers....)  that would be like Honda teaming up with Mercedes.

He mentions a laptop in the title, but posts a pic of some POS desktop from years ago -- then when many people tell him how to accomplish his simple feat - he says, ""NO !!!!  Thats evil !!  NOOOO !!!  Dont say those words !!!" and posts a silly outdated blog from 5 years ago  ?!?!   Surely that didnt happen.

Im gonna go back to sleep, because this thread makes me want to hurt someone.

Richard Grant -- tell me - what exactly do you develop ?  So I know what not to buy....ever.
Oh and when you want to show proof to back up something you believe in -- dont just post a random blog - it doesnt really lend credibility. ;)
