Recommended Posts

Anyone here have "Surface Pro 3 Docking Station" with dual monitors? We are looking at this for work, (have SP3 and docking station on the way).

@The_Observer

I do have both SP3 and the SP3 Docking Station. One really big issue you will run into is DPI scaling.

The SP3 has a 150% DPI default scaling. The desktop will look huge on a external monitor. However the metro echo system will look normal.

If you depend on the desktop to run application you will be disappointed.

You can change the SP3 DPI scaling to 100% so it will look normal on your external monitor. But once you undock the desktop will become useless.

At 100% scaling you'll need a magnifying glass to see the desktop.

If your workflow doesn't depends on the desktop while the SP3 (@ 100% DPI scaling) is undock than you wont have a problems.

That's weird.  I have the dock but I only use 1 monitor (Surface is my 2nd monitor) and it get's scaled correctly when I dock it.  If it doesn't, a quick reboot fixes the problem (and the reboots really are quick).

best way is to use mDP1.2 monitors that you can daisy chain

or 1 out of the dock one out of the port on the side of the device
