Alternative to apple keyboard for windows

Recommended Posts

I'm looking for a quality chicklet keyboard that has a similar feel to the Wired Apple Aluminium Keyboard.

I've been using this keyboard for years (yeah, on windows) but it's finally died (my fault, with liquid...)

Ideas?

I can see loads of cheapo PC chicklet keyboards but they're made by what seem to be rather dubious brands.

Take a look at the Logitech K800.  It's not exactly a chicklet-style keyboard, but the keys are very low.

That's the one I have and I absolutely love it.  Yes it's wireless but you can connect a micro-usb cable to it to make it "wired" and charge it.

Take a look at this one...

Wouldnt really care about the brand name.  Read the user reviews and see how it works for others.   If it was a major part like video card or mobo, sure...but things like KB/M, I normally pay attention to the user reviews and how it performs in the real world

Damn, I'd buy that but I can't find it in the UK :/

MS's Wedge isn't bad either.

Mine wore out after 4 months use. The keys look like they belong as part of the PS3 glossy black design.

It's a nice keyboard but I would describe it as not for full time use.

I would say any of the higher-end Microsoft (or Logitech, for that matter) wired or wireless keyboards (such as Microsoft's ComfortCurve or Sculpt ergo keyboards) or, if you don't mind an older model, the Microsoft Wireless Keyboard 5000 or 6000 (V.2.0 or later) - the 6000 V.3 is my own keyboard of choice with every OS I run.  (And it also works on real Macs - which can't be said of most PC keyboards, including USB keyboards, let alone USB wireless keyboards.)

I have been using a Logitech K360 at the moment (Very, very cheap) which thus far is showing no signs of key wear and works fine under Mavericks/Yosemite/Windows 8.1/*buntu 14.04.  The downside is that it's very cheaply built and somewhat of a dust magnet - a trade off for compatability & usability I guess.

Good news is though that if I drop water or tea on the thing, I would not give a ######! I would just buy another and be back to the same typing experience.

My deceased Apple Wireless keyboard remained intact (no glossy wear) for nearly 4 years but died from condensation (of all things). I decided to go with cheap this time around as I couldn't see how Apple UK can justify charging ?59

for something that cost me ?34.99 when I originally bought mine that has not changed in 4 years (other than in price).

Hello,

Not a chicklet keyboard, but Matias makes mechanical USB and Bluetooth keyboards for gamers and professionals that are supposed to be similar to the older model of Mac keyboards.

I've got a couple of the Matias Laptop Pro keyboards. The feel is similar to white ALPS switches, but quietened (no click). The switches are very nice, but it's a completely different feel from scissor switches like those used in low profile notebook keyboards. Long key travel, chunky, and tactile.

I'd absolutely recommend another Apple Keyboard if you're already used to it. The Logitech illuminated keyboard is decent too. Don't even bother with mechanicals if you're already typing at the decent speeds with the Apple one.
