So today I went inside a local coffee shop to get a 20 oz mocha. I was in and out in about 3 mins. As i'm walking back out to my car I walk past the drive through. it was 3 cars long. I'm thinking... .just walk your ass inside.

I can't personally remember the last time I went through a drive through. I always just walk inside. I can see some instances were a drive through might be more convenient But I think for the most part people are lazy.

Depends really.  Cold/heat have an issue some places.  What annoys me is the person who is in the drive thru ordering something for 20 people...or spend forever looking at the menu.

Plus, kids is a problem as well for some.

Only time I typically hit a drive-thru is for a quick dinner, rather eat at home.  (Takeout/fast food that is.. a proper restaurant is a different story obviously.)   Personally never hit a coffeeshop, got a big Keurig machine at home for that.  Pick a flavor, push a button, done.

I am not a fast food kinda guy. However, when I do venture into cardiac arrest land, I only eat at IN-N-Out Burger. Anyone who has ever been to IN-N-Out knows about the long lines either in the drive through or inside. So I choose to just sit in my car, crank up the Jazz, and wait 30 minutes for a Double Double, Fries, and a Strawberry Shake.

Well sometimes the drive thru is the only option. Some fast food joints keep their drive thru open later than their lobby. Also, depending on your location, it's actually safer to stay in your vehicle than to venture into the restaurant. For instance, when I used to live in Minnesota, I'd be pretty darn careful on the north side of Minneapolis. Oh and here's yet another reason some people use the drive thru: Kids. If a parent has three or four kids, it's safer and obviously more convenient to keep them all in the vehicle instead of venturing through a parking lot and a crowded lobby area.

So people have their own reasons. Just because they don't do it your way doesn't make them lazy.

Lol, you think 3 cars is a long line! Sheesh, go to a Taco Bell in any big city. I've seem them lined up 20 deep on a Friday night.

why use a remote control to change channels? walk up to the tv

why use the internet to find information? walk to the library

why use your stove? start a fire

why use a elevator/escalator? take the stairs or climb

why drive to work? walk/bike to work

but best of all pertaining to your question: why buy your drink from a food service place? stay at home and make it/make it and pack it.

I am not suggesting the above, just pionting out what you may do everyday with other things is lazy to someone else. Everyone has their own individual like/dislikes/priorities/wants/hates etc.

depends how busy it is and if I have a coupon - coupons are a pain to use when at a drive thru as they almost always bugger it up...and in winter if its just coffee....drive through. It hits -40 here. No way I am leaving my warm vehicle for coffee *lol*

very good point. I have a machine at home and I make a mocha every single morning. It's my routine. Friday morning is my deposit day. if I meet my goal of X number dollars for a single deposit week I treat myself to a coffee shop mocha.

This video is retarded, I know,  lol, but it demonstrates what I make EVERY morning ... well except some Fridays

why drive to work? walk/bike to work

1) Some TV's do not have all the controls needed.

2) The internet is a much greater source of information than any library will ever be.

3) My stove is gas, therefore fire, and cooks products much more efficiently.

4) I use the stairs sometimes.  Other times there is no choice but to use a lift/escalator.

5) I work 30 miles away, along the motorway... not exactly cyclable.

I use the drive through sometimes.

Mainly because I don't want to venture out into the cold, plus I am a little lazy.  It's usually just as fast anyway.

1 - Channels? What are channels?   I do DVDs/Blu-Rays or Netflix usually.I do more often than not turn the TV and player on/off at the device - I'm already there to put the disc in, after all!

2 - No library has the wealth of (mis)information the `net does.

3 - I do. It's called a grill!

4 - I actually do sometimes - good exercise.

5 - If it didn't mean biking on narrow twisty, poorly lit country roads I might. 10 miles isn't too far to ride.

I just walk in because I always check my order to see if its right and if I use a drive through I cant really do that because they just expect you to quickly drive off once you have your order and you have to rush and then if the order is wrong you have to go back and get it corrected.

This is my analysis, if long car line, go inside, if in a hurry and no car line, stay in drive thru.

I'm usually in and out the drive through in 3 minutes if I don't have morons who sit and stare at the menu likes its the first time they've ever been there.

It is possible that it is their first time... Menus also do change... Additionally, sometimes people want to break their routine and aren't aware of alternatives due to buying the same thing each time.

Either way, they are paying their money and should be allowed to take as long as they like. That doesn't make them a "moron"...

I have never met someone who has not been to a fast food restaurant. There the same in all the countries I've been to. As for changing it up, I'm sure they could read the menu while waiting in the drive-through line.

You wouldn't be upset if someone takes 10 minutes to order their food? Drive-through is suppose to be quick, isn't that the whole point of it?

No I wouldn't be upset. If I were annoyed I would be upset at the business for not having enough lines, but not at the person placing their order. They are spending their hard earned money. They can take as long as they want to get to a point that they are happy to hand it over.

They don't owe you anything. It is the job of the business to keep you happy, not a fellow customer.

You are not thinking right.

Walk-ins can take awhile to order depends if it is for the company lunch...   same to the drive-thru.  I do this all the time for work I get lunch for the employees... I don't care the drivers behind me if they are complaining. If they are, then park their ass in the lot and walk their ass inside to order if they can't wait that long.

No wonder there are whiny people everywhere that they don't think about walk-ins and drive-thru that have same wait times depends how big the order is. You got to think they order for family or company employees.  Be patient.

Some people can order online or phone and they can pick up such as BW3, Applebee's, etc.

So, what you're saying is that it's normal to wait 10+ minutes in line at the drive-through?

And who said is whining?

I could care less how long someone orders, I tend to by-pass places if there's a long line anyways.

I like the drive through because its faster and less effort. I don't see the point of going inside to eat when i already have a more comfy seat.

Then again, its most fast food places that this applies to, and i rarely eat that junk anymore.

The nicer more healthier food places require you to go inside :(

Already making the effort to eat better, now i gotta burn calorie and walk my fat ass inside? :( life is hard. :|

1 meal order, No.... 5+  meal order, Yes.. it could take a few minutes. It shouldn't take long ... not like they are taking a hour to order the meal.

No one.. I know there are whiny people everywhere... even complaining...    I see them  everywhere..

There you go. I do that as well. If I see long line or long waiting, I leave and go somewhere else.

You obviously don't have kids.  I use the drive through when I have my kids in tow.  Unbuckling 3 little fockers, escort them inside, tell them no to everything, have a pissing match with them because of the i wants (it doesn't matter if it is a donut or coffee mug), then to get my coffee, go to the car put the coffee on top of the car, buckel them back in, and forget my coffee on the roof because I am so embarrassed or upset is not how I like to get my coffee (this doesn't normally happen but you tend not to forget after it does happen once or twice, I would rather avoid this regardless of how rare an occasion it may be, but the unbuckling 3 little fockers, parade inside, grab coffee, parade outside, and buckle them all in can be a 15 minute affair...I would rather go without and hit the coffee machine at home if walk up was my only choice).

Edit: my kids aren't bad it is a rare occasion that it does, we do take trips to the coffee shop on occasion and they do pick out a treat.  But when I want a coffee many times I ask myself is it worth it when I come up to the coffee shop.  Also when the line is circling around the building I choose to go without.

I almost never go for fast food anymore, but on the extremely rare occasion, I walk to the counter..

One of the reasons (other than health) for not going through drive through is the amount of times I've not received the correct order. Or the dick serving me gives me a large cup full of ice with some cola ( one time I went in to complain to the manager, the manager said he couldn't see what the problem was, so I tipped the drink onto their tills (cash register) as there was no drink at all in the cup no damage was done, but that was the last straw for me)
