Izlude
I thought it would be an interesting new experience, boy was I wrong. The smell didn't bother me, not at all, neither did the taste. But I have such a strange sensation now. I took an antacid, but I still feel weird all over. Is this stuff supposed to make you sick? (literally, not so much the smell jokes, but yeah really sick). The brand is Honey Creek Limburger, bought at a Stater Bros store. I don't feel goooooooood!!!!!! Astra.Xtreme
It's just a stinky cheese. Nothing unique about it. I've had Limburger from the company here in WI that makes it, and it was fine. Stinks, but tastes like cheese. Charisma 1 Share
Nick H. Supervisor Posted November 24, 2014 Supervisor Share Posted November 24, 2014 Is this stuff supposed to make you sick? (literally, not so much the smell jokes, but yeah really sick).Just from a logical point of view, no it isn't. If it were people wouldn't eat it. It may just be that your body isn't used to it? Also, how much did you eat? A few hundred grams should normally be eaten with wine so that it breaks the cheese down. That's why you have wine with fondue, other liquids can end up causing the cheese to solidify in your stomach (or something like that.) While it's not bad, it does make you feel quite uncomfortable. Izlude
Hey cool my topic's back. Alright!!!Yeah I'm alright now. At the time, my stomach was bubbling and gurgling the whole night and panic attacks (paranoia) set in :p It made me feel numb all over. Gah!!! Well I started craving the stuff again and ate it 2 days later (which would be today). It was even more stinky than before, but I didn't get sick this time. Ohh, ahh it's really really delicious... to continue eating or not?
Eric Veteran Posted November 25, 2014 Veteran Share Posted November 25, 2014 It may have been a coincidence. I personally love it but it's kinda pricey. You could try a limburger sandwich. They're good smooshed in a panini grill.

spacer
My girlfriend gets intense stomach pains after eating romano cheese. She's definitely allergic to it, and it sounds like you have the same thing but with Limburger. It's not surprising since all cheese has bacteria in it. I would just take some medicine and throw out the rest. Lesson learned.
Shadrack
Man, I love smelly cheese. The smellier the better it tastes, typically. I haven't had Limburger but I'm a huge fan of a nice stinky blue cheese.
