Where did my update go?

Recommended Posts

So I charged up my Nexus 7 (2012) and turned it on after a while of disuse.  When it came on it said that the Lollipop update was ready to download so I clicked for it to start.  While it was doing that I went to bed.  The next day I checked on it and it was at the normal desktop with Kit Kat.  I checked for an update but it said there was none.  Where did Lollipop go?

Check the settings and select about device and it will tell you what version of android you run.. If it says 5.0, then you got the update.

No, it's still at Kit Kat (4.4.4).  That's also where it tells me my system is up to date.

Just head over to xda-developers.com and manually download the ota to apply. Its easy and you don't have to unlock your bootloader or loose data. You should be able to find instructions easily on google if you cant find them on xda.

I actually did google it and one site was saying to just wait since it's getting pushed out.  I did wait for a couple days thinking if it offered it to me already then it will again.  I'll probably go do that, though...

If your device is rooted, then you can manually update it or take your device to the store and they will update for you.

OTA update will not update because of rooted. So you will have to update manually.

Sorry for my ignorance in Android, but is having an unlocked bootloader the same as rooted? I know I have the unlocked icon when it first boots up.

The store manually update mine every time ... Then I go home to root them again.

My devices are rooted.

I am not sure if my devices are unlocked or not. I only root them for more features and root access for apps.

OTAs should apply if you are rooted and the BL is unlocked.  Only reason it wouldnt apply is if you have a custom recovery/ROM.  Unless things have changed.

Well, part of the weird thing is that I got the notification once!  So it should apply but now I can't get it to come back up.

Try factory resetting?  If rooted, will just be easier to head over to XDA and flash the update via recovery.  What I did on my N 2013.  XDA has OTA flashable/rooted L builds...untouched/modded.
