Windows tablet question

Recommended Posts

I am going to receive this Wednesday a HP 7 stream... It has full Windows 8.1 installed, however I am not interested in the desktop mode, it is a way to remove partially or completely the desktop mode and just leave the modern mode on? Like the way windows phone its but without the phone.

No, the desktop is alive and kicking and required since many apps have no modern version (think MS Office).  Even Windows RT have the desktop because of Office.

The Control Panel is not completely "modern", so many settings still require the old desktop panel.  Oh and you don't have a good file explorer in modern...

The only thing you can do is remove the "Desktop" tile from your start screen.  That's it.

As above.

You can stay in the modern interface pretty much always, but some options and things are only accessible through desktop mode.

Perfect answer above honestly >.<

No, there's no way to remove the desktop. But you can simply install all Modern apps for what you want to do and just not use the desktop. You may find you still need to go into the desktop for some settings and maintenance, though.

Had finally the tablet since yesterday and like it a lot. It is really amazing that for just $99, you can have a tablet with full Windows 8.1 plus Office 2013. Now got also this crazy idea... has anyone yet tried to install Windows Phone 8.1 on this tablet? It is possible? Don't think I will do it but since is a tablet; I will imagine that a lot of people will like to experiment with it.
