JustGeorge
I bought an iPad for my Mother for Christmas. She has no computer and isn't computer savvy. This is also her first tablet. I live a few states away and can't just up/go to her house and help her. My plan is to set the iPad up before shipping it to her but I'm facing a dilemma: I was going to use my unused Apple ID and load up the account with a gift card so she can buy books, apps, etc. I figured it would be easier to manage my account from here vs. setting up her own. Where things get complicated is that I might be getting an iPhone in a couple of months if Microsoft fails to provide a true flagship Windows Phone without some deal-breaking defect. This means that I will be needing my Apple ID again. Obviously, I don't want her stuff syncing to my iPhone and I don't want my naked selfies (j/k) syncing with her iPad. What would be the simplest way to go about this? Also, is it required to have a CC on file with Apple if I set up her own account? I haven't messed with iTunes in ages. ctebah
Family Sharing. Too much info for me to explain but it's the perfect thing for your situation. I do the same with my mom, she isn't tech savvy and Family Sharing in iOS 8 is perfect.

JustGeorge
One thing that would greatly help me is an app that would let me take control of the iPad so I can show her how to do things. I've searched and all I can find are pay offerings that are crazy expensive. It would be awesome if Apple had a remote assistance app built in to the iPad. You cannot do that as that would violate sandboxing. Apple does not allow it.

Shadrack
Does Teamviewer know? http://www.teamviewer.com/en/products/mobile-device-support.aspx Take a look at what you can actually do. It's really quite limited. It's more of a hand holding solution where you can talk them through their problems, rather than you login and set something up for them. You could jailbreak and install a VPN server off of Cydia. That would be a better solution, but IMO shouldn't be needed. My grandmother is in her 80s with an iPad and is doing just fine. But I'm also in the same town and can zip over to her house if she needs help or she accidentally signed out of a service. That is probably the hardest thing for her... Also, you do not need a CC to open an Apple ID, you can use a iTunes gift card. However, Family Share requires all purchasing to go through a single CC which is why my family hasn't enabled it. #Michael
Does Teamviewer know? http://www.teamviewer.com/en/products/mobile-device-support.aspx Direct from the website: TeamViewer mobile device support for iPhone/iPad/iPod touch allows you to deploy custom iOS configuration profiles. Push settings to the device like e-mail account, Microsoft Exchange account, and Wi-Fi settings, all from your workstation. Other features include the dashboard view as well as the ability to transfer files to the device. Basically allows you to push out provisioning profiles and act as if it was an MDM platform. TV screensharing: https://integrate.teamviewer.com/en/develop/screen-sharing-sdk/index.aspx , can only be done if the app is specifically coded for the TV sdk.
