Xbox One getting Pandora and other new media apps

The Xbox One is set to receive several new apps in the next week or so, all of which aim to bolster the media capabilities of Microsoft's flagship gaming console.

The majority of the apps that will launch this week are for Xbox One users within the United States, but select apps will be available outside the US as well. Five new apps are on the way:

  • Pandora - the popular internet music streaming service is finally coming to Xbox One. Listen to your favorite artists and discover new ones through special radio stations supported with occasional advertisements. Pandora will only be available to Xbox Live members within the United States (at least at launch).
  • Vevo - The biggest name in music videos will making its debut on the Xbox One. Yes, you could use YouTube to view music videos, but going directly through Vevo can be advantageous for those looking for the simplest way to find videos with consistent streaming quality from the hottest artists around the world. Vevo will be available in: Australia, Brazil, Canada, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Mexico, Netherlands, New Zealand, Poland, Spain, United Kingdom and the United States.
  • Bravo Now - If you love reality TV shows and can't get enough of Desperate Housewives, you're in luck. The cable network channel is launching its official Xbox One streaming application and will be available for United States residents. A current TV subscription is required to view the full episodes from the Bravo Now app.
  • Telemundo Now - The major Spanish network will be debuting in the United States and, like Bravo Now, will bring many full episodes of the network to your Xbox One along with specialized content not typically available through the standard channel. A current TV subscription is required to view full content.
  • Popcornflix - Stream hundreds of films instantly at no cost that spans multiple genres of film through the Popcornflix app, which will be available in the United States and Canada.

The new apps are coming as Neowin exclusively revealed today that OneDrive will soon support music streaming through the Xbox Music app. Owners of Xbox 360 and Xbox One consoles will also not want to miss the Countdown to 2015 sale that's live right now.
