Microsoft Band out of stock until "early 2015" for online shoppers

Microsoft's announced its first wearable device back in October in the form of the Microsoft Band - a wearable fitness device that tracks all of your activities. The accessory has room for improvement, but has been well received by consumers due to the fact that the Band sold out shortly after being replenished in retail stores. Now, Microsoft has confirmed that you'll have to wait until 2015 before you'll have a chance to pick one up, unless your local Microsoft store still has any left on the shelf.

As of this moment, Microsoftstore.com is reporting the Band as sold out in its three available sizes and has no firm date for restocking. On the online order page, Microsoft states "more coming early 2015" and allows for those interested to be notified as soon as the Band becomes available again.

There has been a lot of speculation as to whether the Band was produced in smaller numbers, leading to frequent "sold out" states or if there truly is a massive rush by consumers to buy these devices. Either way, Microsoft may have missed the opportunity to capitalize on big sales during the hottest consumer shopping period of the year.

The Band is a product with great ambition and, through several updates and fixes, could end up being a major player in the fitness wearable market. Still, if Microsoft doesn't start pumping out more units soon, the Band may miss its window of opportunity.
