Slim backpack

Recommended Posts

I have recently become an owner of an 11" MacBook Air - it's a lovely machine, and I plan to use it as my BYOD machine at work.

My current work machine is a ThinkPad X220 (12.5", about 1" thick at its thickest and about 1.5kg [3.3lbs]), and is typically carried in a Nike rucksack/backpack to and from work.

I typically carry the following:

Laptop (obviously)

Power-supply

Phone charger cable (only the cable)

Notebook (half letter size, hardback Moleskine notebook)

2 pens

Keys

Cigarettes (20 box typically)

Lighter

Keys (3 keys on a ring)

Credit Card wallet (really is credit card sized)

Paracetamol sachet

Throat lozenges

Travel Pass (credit card sized)

Door Pass for Office (credit card sized)

It sounds like a long list of stuff but is pretty compact if I make a pile of it. The bag I have is way too big for my current, rather chunky laptop and will therefore be far too large for the MacBook Air.  I would like to buy something much slimmer, and have so far found these:

1) Everest Slim Laptop Backpack

2) Cocoon Grid-It Slim Backpack

3) Kogan Super Slim Laptop Backpack

I really like the look of the Kogan, but I have no idea how I might get one (it's an Australian store that delivers to Australia, I live in the UK - the other side of the world).  My second favourite is the Cocoon, with the Everest being my least favourite out of the three.

Are there any other backpacks that I should consider suitable for the new machine?

Does anyone have any experience of the three backpacks listed?

It's a very nice bag, but at 4" thicker than I would like.

Hello,

Perhaps a Briggs & Riley Verb 104?  I use one to carry my Lenovo ThinkPad X220 and sundry accessories, so I think it would okay with the smaller MacBook Air, although you might want to still consider adding a sleeve for it.

Well, I don't know whether you like this choice or not but still recommending, I personally would go for it if its available in my country though not *aluminum hat freak* but this has grace.

Hello,

Briggs & Riley does make some backpacks, but I think they are probably too large to hold a MacBook Air without some additional padding.

You might want to check out BrentHaven, Tom Bihn and Tumi.  I suspect you'll be able to find something that not only meets your needs but is suitably stylish as well.
