0 Max Norris
For 7, yea Snarl's pretty decent, been using it for years. Obviously a program has to actually support it (or have a third party plugin written for it), I personally use it to get alerts from a bunch of servers I have running, they fire off a notification which also bounces to my phones/tablets via PushOver/PushAlot, plus a few minor things like TBird, Foobar, etc just for giggles. It runs on 8.x too but you're probably going to eventually see a lot more support for the built in notification system as, well, it's built in and with 10, much better integrated. 0 Max Norris
but i have problem to configure snarl is snarl dipendent to the application ? i mean does it work only with some application Well yes, as I mentioned a program has to be written to take advantage of something to actually be able to use it, it won't just 'automagically' start working with something it doesn't know about. Most of the stuff I use it for I wrote myself; various scripts and cron jobs on my servers will occasionally send some over the network, a couple services I have tied in as well. I use existing addons for Foobar, TBird, etc, my torrent client will send them via the command line notification utility, there's a program that will supposedly capture system tray balloon notifications and re-route them to Snarl although I've never tried it, etc. Really depends on what you're trying to do with it. 0 Max Norris
can you please make an example for torrent ?Depends on your client, need one that supports the running of a script/program after a certain event happens. Some do, some don't. Also depends on which tool you're using to send the notification, different parameters, etc. The one I use I wrote myself, a simple Python script that sends a command to Snarl, plus it also bounces notifications to my phone so I can know when something's done if I'm not at my desk. (It's in Python as I use that same script on Windows and *Nix boxes.) For example, lets say Deluge, you'd use the Execute plugin. http://dev.deluge-torrent.org/wiki/Plugins/Execute Vuze has the Command Runner plugin. http://www.vuze.com/plugins/details/azexec uTorrent (last I checked) doesn't have a global option for this yet, not sure about the Pro version. I think Transmission-Qt-Win has the option to do similar. Of course you could try that utility that reroutes tray notifications to Snarl; I've never had a need so no idea how well it works, but most clients throw notifications this way by default, if I read it right Win10's going to do something similar, capture old style notifications and re-route.
