#Michael
I have narrowed it down to these two options: Targus USB 3.0 docking station: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B005YR1PV2/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_nS_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&colid=3R6T0GASOC543&coliid=I2MCYMERXTMNZI LandingZone Dock: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00HJAEO1U/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_nS_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&colid=3R6T0GASOC543&coliid=I22CRTZLVOWQDE There is obviously a price difference and a difference in how they connect to the computer. Any opinions on either of them?
Aergan
The last two Targus powered USB 3.0 hubs I purchased have since failed within the first few months - this trait seems to affect their other offerings after reading the Amazon reviews. #Michael
The last two Targus powered USB 3.0 hubs I purchased have since failed within the first few months - this trait seems to affect their other offerings after reading the Amazon reviews. And I just got a response from LandingZone support and it won't work if any type of case is on the macbook. So, now it seems that that one is out. Anything else that is similar in design to the targus one? link6155 1 Share
#Michael
Here is one by kensington: http://www.amazon.com/Kensington-Sd3500v-Universal-2048x1152-ethernet/dp/B009F7E730/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1424461780&sr=8-1&keywords=sd3500v And one by Belkin: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00KUB3R6S/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_nS_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&colid=3R6T0GASOC543&coliid=I2ZJXM53SSD9LX&psc=1 The belkin one is interesting because it is wedge shape and I can rest the computer on it. The only thing is that it only has dvi and no hdmi/vga/display ports. And except for usb, dvi, and ethernet there are no other ports.
Aergan
I've only used USB 2.0 Kensington port replicators so I can't say for their USB 3.0 offerings. They are (as a company) not the most reliable but they tend to fail quickly if it's going to go. They're not officially supporting OS X which would be your first issue but some users are claiming to have some functionality.

Chicane-UK Veteran Posted April 9, 2015 Veteran Share Posted April 9, 2015 This is one area I really wish Apple would actually make some products. I use my Macbook Air as my main home PC too and it spends equal amounts of time on a desk hooked up with a monitor, etc and also out on the road. It sounds silly but it really drives me crazy coming back to my desk, fumbling around on the floor for the monitor cable & usb plug, not to mention having to plug the mains adaptor back in. I really wish Apple would come up with an elegant solution for this.
