Google rumoured to have chosen a Chinese OEM for the next Nexus

Google has reportedly chosen a completely new OEM to make the next Nexus smartphone, which is due out later this year.

The Nexus lineup of tablets and smartphones designed by Google have so far been made by prominent companies such as HTC, Samsung, LG, Asus and recently Motorola. Now, a new rumour has suggested that the next Nexus smartphone will be made by a Chinese OEM.

A Chinese tech blogger posted to his Weibo account that the next Nexus smartphone coming out later this year will not be made by the companies mentioned above, and that Google has already chosen an OEM from China.

At this point, there are many Chinese OEMs to guess but the ones which have a relatively global presence include Lenovo, Huawei, ZTE, Oppo, OnePlus and Xiaomi.

The latest Nexus smartphone was launched in the month of October so there is still plenty of time for Google to announce the next one. We won't be holding our breath to get anything out of the upcoming Google I/O 2015.
