The Legend Of Zelda For Wii U Has Been Delayed, won't be shown at E3

Not great news, but as long as it makes the game great then I am happy to wait.

I pretty much agree with this sentiment as well. I would rather the devs take their time to add all features, levels, etc rather than cutting things out and making the game shorter for the sake of time (like Wind Waker, which in my opinion felt very short, and it was later revealed that two dungeons were cut). With that being said this is not a major surprise because a lot of Zelda games for Nintendo's home consoles end up getting delayed by a year, so I cannot say this was totally unexpected.

Interestingly, a 2016 release date would mean this game will now fall on Zelda's 30th anniversary, so I wonder if that had anything to do with this (especially considering this game takes a lot of inspiration from the first Legend of Zelda). There was also a fictional interview posted in Miiverse by Nintendo earlier this month where they were speaking with Happy Mask Sales Man from Majora's Mask in which it was stated to expect to see him again in a new with a couple of new mask; this makes me wonder if the mask transformations will be coming to this game (and it would potentially explain the delay because we were not told about mask transformations, and I would assume it was added later in development so they need time to integrate it and test it in the game). Of course these are just speculations, for all we know they just need more time because it is an open world game and they need more time to test everything to reduce the likelihood of game breaking bugs and sequences.

How long have we been waiting ? I'm usually happy to wait when a AAA title is delayed to get it right, but this is ridiculous. NO proper Zelda title since Twilight Princess.

Getting sick of these damn remakes.

You don't consider Skyward Sword a proper title?

As a Wii U owner I really want the console to do well and sell well (to help get more 3rd party development support), and I was really hoping that having this Zelda title releasing for the 2015 holiday season could help with less-than-stellar Wii U sales. I completely understand Nintendo's decision and I hope that whatever they are adding in is worth the wait. We'll see what happens.
