Patch Tuesday Begins Early

Recommended Posts

I just got a notification on Windows Update (Windows 7) that an optional update is available. (KB2952664).

From reading the article on the link I post below, this has been a problematic compatibility update related to future update to Windows 10.

There is also a Windows 8 Update mentioned in the article. (KB2919355)

I have chosen to delay updating.  :)

I am realy Enjoying Windows 10 ... its 100x better than 8.1 IMHO.

I feel you're pain.. I think it shuld be upto the User / Admin to chose if thay want to upgrade or not.

I got a new one today:

KB2990214 - Update for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB2990214)

From what I have read online, this is the update that will start sending you messages to update to Windows 10. I wouldn't really mind so much if they do this after RTM and it's an easy way to upgrade. Why are they sending this out now?

That update should not appear unless you installed the TP notification update manually. You can remove it from the installed programs control panel under "View installed updates."

I have my Updates set so that they are not automatically updated so I'm sure that I did manually install it.

This month's patch tuesday is 1.2 GB (Windows 8.1 + Office 2013) combined for x64.

This is borderline idiotic. We have 3 PCs in the house and just 50 GB download limit for the month. We lost 3.6 GB overnight for this garbage. :(

<sigh> Once again, Windows Update utterly fails. It could at least give a specific reason for failing.

An "Out of Band" release today.

I got a 21.9mg Windows Essentials Security Update last night. It always drives me nuts there is no info about these size of updates. May be to the engine itself or something.

But here is the link to todays news:
