BinaryData
So, I've been looking at a lot of different "custom" PC builds, on various forums. I've noticed a lot of them have touch display fan controllers. Is something like this;http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811992004 Really worth it? I mean, my rigs going to roll water cooling, but that's CPU/GFX only. Should I buy something like this for case fans? Seems kinda dumb, but I thought I'd ask the people who have better answers than other forums did. Plus, The BudMan Index of Information is here. Liana
It really depends on how concerned you are about fan noise. I use a Lamptron 4-channel fan controller in my PC because I like it to be whisper quiet unless I'm gaming, but a fan controller isn't usually a necessary item for most PC setups. Be sure to do your research before you buy, as a lot of controllers don't seem to be very well built and may fail prematurely. My lamptron is working great so far. My Lian-li fan controller wasn't great and started to fail after a couple years.

I think I'll investigate more, and grab one. Can't hurt to make somethin' purdy lookin' either.
philcruicks
I've never bothered, most modern good cases are fairly quiet, mine even has a rudimentary fan controller build in, just a 3 position switch on the front for 3 fan speeds. http://www.corsair.com/en-gb/carbide-series-500r-mid-tower-case
Anibal P
I wouldn't waste money on one, at the heaviest loads my system is still what would be called quiet, not sure why some are so obsessed by a db or two of sound, unless their hardware is not connected correctly and rattles, and then no fan controller will do any good
