Unable to install Acronis True Image Home 2011

Question

I have a legit copy of this which i paid for.

Formatted the HDD of my laptop & went to install it. It couldn't update immediately (as it used to) as i got an error message. I forget it now, SLS or something like that.

Anyway so then i go to just install it & i keep getting told i don't have permission to & that it can't be installed. That can't be right though as i'm admin & i even tried running the program as admin & it still wouldn't work.

Is it because it's old?

I don't want to upgrade to a newer version for [insert more money here].

As it was i had a backup for the laptop which i restored from which had A.T.I. installed on it already, but i was soon going to format my PC hard drive which i know i have no backup for so i'll be needing to know the answer to this soon enough anyway.

Thanks.

Try using the Acronis Removal Tool, iv`e used it once i think for 2010 and it seemed to do the job allright. Be advised if you make use of the Aconis Secure Zone you need to remove that prior to using the cleanup tool and also if you use the Startup Recovery Manager that needs deactivating. Not sure about Try and Decide but i can`t imagine it would affect it if you`re not using it at the time...

Good luck

Iv`e personally stopped using the main program installed and have taken to just using the Boot disc and doing recovery from there..(Win8.1 64Bit, Win 7 64 + 32 Bit)

Sorry my post must've been misleading.

I don't want to uninstall it. I want to INSTALL it. I was putting all programs back on after a format but it wouldn't let me install this one.

Apologies, i read it as you couldn`t update to the latest version (of 2011) and were trying to install the updated version over the top

What OS are you trying to put 2011 on? 2011 doesn`t support anything higher than 7 officially ( i wonder why!)...

Acronis can be quite tetchy at times with permissions, etc, hopefully you`ll be allright on your desktop.

The same one i successfully installed it on last time .... Windows 7.

I tried contacting Acronis but my god it's a minefield. Going through their questionnaire thing & they want answers to questions i can't answer (build number for example). I can't submit the request to them without answering these questions either. They don't make it easy for you.

I can only assume that it's 'so old' that they totally don't support it (which is why it wouldn't update) but i've no idea why it simply would not install.

I completely gave up on Acronis. I have it set to back up to my NAS and it fails every single time.

Strange that Acronis seems to get voted best backup program on this forum & has done for god knows how many years now.

Kinda disappointed Acronis make themselves so difficult to contact though.

Glad I've had no problems, can even backup to NAS and usb drives hooked up to my NAS. If your hard drive is western digital you can download their acronis program which would be newer (only for wd drives though... not sure if it would work on others). Other option and a hassle is to take ownership of the install exe and see if that works.
