dlf
I know, I know the reponse of more RAM would be useless, but it would be my decision to spend the $ . . . . Right now I have 8 GB (see specs below) thinking of getting some 16 GB (2x8GB) sticks (x2) for 32 GB (my max supported RAM (see CPU below). What would some good 16 GB sticks to buy? Also I may at some time(s) use Ubuntu, Linux Mint, or some other debian based Linux distro . . . . +Fahim S. MVC Posted May 26, 2015 MVC Share Posted May 26, 2015 It says the maximum memory is 32GB, it has 4 slots.. doesn't that make it 8GB per slot? Why would you buy 16GB sticks? Have they been proven to work?
dlf
16 GB sticks (2x8GB) since they are about ~100 dollars where as 32 GB sticks are about ~200 - 350. I'd just buy 4 sticks - each 8 GB and that should be 32 GB.
+Fahim S. MVC Posted May 26, 2015 MVC Share Posted May 26, 2015 OK.. so you mean 16GB kits and not sticks... makes sense. Unless you are doing anything that demands high performance memory I'd just buy Kingston's or Crucial's Value offerings.
Stokkolm
I don't know what your budget is, but these sticks have proven themselves for me: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231571 You may not need the speed of these either, they're 2133Mhz. Just commenting that they've been reliable.
dlf
I'd rather stay @ 1600 since speed wouldn't effect much (if at all) and secondly I'd like to spend less then $300 for 32 GB.
