Sound Blaster Windows 10 - Software Availability Chart

Windows 10 - Software Availability Chart

End of July for Z series. X-Fi series in October.

That's about 2 months of no drivers after the release of Windows 10 for X-Fi users, assuming Windows 10 does release end of July.

After the issues with Windows 8.1 and the unavailable drivers, I might just get a ZxR to replace my Titanium HD.

Yeah Creative has a long history of alienating their customers (to put it nicely) when it comes to drivers. I will only believe the Creative drivers for Windows 10 once I see and use them; too many false promises in the past. I would be inclined to say you should avoid Creative products altogether, but I have yet to hear of anyone who bought any sound card in the last 10 years say, "The drivers for my sound card are great!". I have read that Asus has some great audio hardware so you may want to check them out, but again, the drivers and software might make you want to cry.

The Daniel K fiasco made me avoid Creative for quite a while. Then, after Creative double charged me for the external card I bought from their store last year and refused to refund me the money until I told my bank it was an unauthorized charge, I vowed to never buy another Creative product ever again.

I know SB drivers have always been a wreck with new releases... but at least to me native hardware SB cards still sound better... onboard audio always seems tingly, metallic and not rich and warm... SB seems to get the sound right... I know there are other sound cards out there but I'm just keeping this SB vs onboard

Anyone remember when Creative refused to release drivers for Windows 2000 because, as they said, it was "business OS"?

Looks like not much has changed.

Personally, on-board audio is plenty good for me. A quality motherboard provides enough isolation to eliminate noise. I even have a Media Center PC connected to my surround amp and I have no issues with unwanted noise.

I really see no point in dedicated sound cards unless you are an audiophile -- and even then, depending on the motherboard, you'll have a hard time distinguishing.

In the case of the PCI Express versions of their hardware, back to (and including) the HD Titanium, they all use the same audio DSP - the SoundCore DSP.  (Yes; this includes the entirety of the Sound Blaster Z series.)  The only differences are DACs and capacitors used in individual models and the presence (or absence) of shielding.  (For example, the HD Titanium, Recon3D Fata1ity Professional, Sound Blaster Zx and ZxR all have shielding the more basic models lack - however, the SAME beamforming mic is included with all except white-box/OEM models.)  I'm actually expecting the PCI (not PCI Express) versions of the X-Fi to get booted due to an extant flaw in the X-Fi DSP (discovered in Windows 7 and 8 x64) - in that case, it is a hardware-address flaw in the DSP itself - and it's one that the SoundCore DSP does not have.  I have a different issue, and it's ONLY shown in 10130 - no audio at all.  (However, it may be a bad driver - I will have to see if this persists in a later build.)

I love Dr. Sbaitso! I think I still have him somewhere in my archives. Remember "parity"? heh heh.

I still have a copy on a 3.5" floppy disk. Dr. Sbaitso is Cortana's grandfather.

Its not just creative, This is has always been an issue with pretty much all software developers and their refusal to use developer previews they only start producing drivers/update when the OS RTM's and Microsoft gets the blame like with vista.

I hoped that when the rapid release cycle started that they would get a clue but no, They wait until the OS is shipping out to customers before even considering updating their software.
