jnelsoninjax Posted June 2, 2015 Share Posted June 2, 2015 PALM COAST, Fla. - Flagler County deputies say a teen in Palm Coast gave her mother a black eye and busted lip during a fight to keep her mother from driving drunk. Melissa Holloway, 39, was charged with child abuse and child neglect in the Sunday afternoon incident. According to deputies, Holloway was drunk on Sunday when she suggested taking her daughters, ages 12 and 16, to the store to get an outfit for sixth-grade graduation. In an effort to keep Holloway from driving, the 16-year-old daughter offered to drive, despite not having a license, deputies said. Holloway told the daughter to get out and insisted she would drive, according to the report. When the daughter refused, Holloway grabbed her and tried to pull her out of the vehicle. Deputies said Holloway began hitting the daughter and the daughter started swinging back, hitting her in the face. The daughter said it was in self-defense, according to deputies. Holloway told deputies she was going to drive to pick up her husband and have him take her daughters to the store, according to the report. She was arrested and booked into the Flagler County Jail.
