Here's Why I hate Samsung!

Recommended Posts

1. Too Many Phones.

2. LaggyWiz

3. They release Plus versions of their flagships (Then you feel like an idiot for buying a Sammy device just a month ago)

4. Slow Updates to OS.

5. No Resale Value of their hardware. (You only get about $200 avg for a $600 device after a year)

6. No Service Centers

Okay. Now before anyone opens their big mouth calling me fanboy or iBoy etc, lemme tell u that I am a Samsung Galaxy S5 User and an ex iPhone user.

I have been using GS5 for about a year now and I came to realize that these phones have no resale value at all. There's a reason why Apple's new phones/ old phones and even god damn DEAD phones sell like hotcakes. On the other side no body gives a damn about Galaxy Devices. Even if they are a brand new released device.

Samsung keep's making 100's of new phones every year. And then it takes them a whole lot time to release updates for past and present phones. Each of their device(s) has a different look, interface, specs that it confuses consumer. Therefore, people in general decide to buy iPhone because they know its not going to be labeled as an "OLD" Phone. Not at-least for 2 - 3 years. They know their phone will get updated when other Apple phones will. And they have some ETA. Whereas, in Samsung's case, people forget about its even a "few months old" device. Let alone software updates/ bug fixes.

Now to those who just bought a Brand New Galaxy S6/ Edge. There's a new phone coming out in a month or 2 called : Galaxy S6 Plus/ Edge Plus. It'll be most likely upgraded with Better Processor, Storage, Better Battery and Memory with new Software pre-loaded.

So how would you feel? Let me know what do you think about Samsung and the way it's spawning of tons of phones.

I don't neccarsily agree with your last point, better phones come every week or so. Doesn't make the S6 obsolete or anything. It still is a terrific device no matter what Samsung releases in the coming months.

Their branding is a mess though, especially on mid and low level. I can't even keep up with it, or make sense of it. There are just too many devices and categories.

As an owner of iPhone 6 and GS6, here are my thoughts:

1) This is a pro or con, depending on how you look at it. The iPhone up until the 6 only had one model. If you didn't like it, too bad. Now with the iPhone 6/6+, you at least have a size difference (but you can't get features like OIS on the 6, bummer). With Android and WP, you have a choice of devices. Don't like the <insert characteristic> of a particular phone? Pick another one, seriously, there's dozens of amazing phones.

2) I have the S6, and let me tell you, there's minimal lag when using Touchwiz launcher. I personally disabled all the apps that I didn't need, and am using Nova launcher. Why? Gives me a higher level of customization the Touchwiz launcher doesn't have.

3) Like I said, I have the S6. Trust me, it won't feel outdated, like at all. The battery on the S6 nets me 3 days of use - I've never had a smartphone last that long (and that includes my iPhone 6). Trust me, there are better phones for battery life - Note 4. Better Processor, storage? Really? You won't notice the difference unless you're running benchmarks. Besides, the Plus models have a bigger screen, and that is NOT something I want.

4) Slow OS updates? Yeah, most likely due to AT&T or <insert carrier> and Samsung's fault. If I'm happy with it, I'll take over control, root it, and install a different ROM. I know this isn't feasible for the non-tech folks. But, those are the same folks who don't even know the difference between Android 5.0.2 vs. Android 5.1.1. All this said, don't let Apple fool you about updates - they may release the updates to old phones, but they either make them way too slow, or don't have all the features the update provides.

5) Yep, used iPhone's are overpriced. I honestly don't understand why people would pay full retail for something "old." ;)

6) Nope no service centers here in the US. I just go to the carrier store if I have problems. Apple definitely wins here since they have stores all over the US (and world), but I have had a ###### experience with them. It took 2 hours with multiple  "geniuses" to figure out my Lightning cable on my iPhone 6 was defective. Morons.

It's not Samsung's fault you are feeling buyers remorse, that's your fault for either not doing your research or falling for peer pressure

Personally don't care for TW, but their hardware is on par with everything else out there be it Android, iOS, Windows Phone or whatever other "flagships" may be out there

1. Agreed, but it shouldn't really be affecting the more tech savvy people.

2. TouchWiz has come a long way and in the S6 it's as smooth as stock Lollipop. Now it's not very pretty, but useable nevertheless.

3. The Plus/Prime/Better version are only sold in certain markets. They usually include support for high speed bands in places where it's available.

4. Agreed. The really big issue is how long Samsung devices are supported. You're lucky if your device stays up to date after a year.

5. This is an issue with a lot of phones. You're better off buying the phone unlocked rather than outright full price.

6. I usually do self-repairs as I find it to be a lot cheaper.

When you buy new hardware, any hardware, if you're knowledgeable you know that it's eventually going to be superseded. The fact that Samsung release a device with slight upgrades a bit down the line doesn't suddenly make the device you brought bad. Given how powerful modern phone hardware is you should be able to get 3-5 years useful life out of a flagship very easily. Personally I'd rather see samsung ditch the overly complex UI to enable them to turn OS updates around faster, but you know what you're getting with them and if you don't like what you may be getting buy a device from a company like LG that usually turn around updates more quickly because of how close to stock their OS is.

As for resale value... Things eventually lose their value as they become superseded, that's something you'll have to just deal with. It's not Samsung's fault that people are so gaga over iCrap that they pay top value for dated hardware, nor does it reflect the usefulness of older Samsung flagships.

I think most of you have either bought Galaxy S6 or you are Sammy's Fan's  :D

I used to use Samsung phones and even tablets, but now I've switched over to the OnePlus One and I'm using the SP3. Was there anything in particular someone said that lead to that conclusion?

I got the wife an S6 she's happy.  I really like the Edge but I do agree with the points about so many phones coming out one after the other but its the same with anything really. They are flooding the market over other devices to stay ahead and no matter how much you try you will never have the best device between friends as someone will always go for the next released and better phone.

Here's why I don't like them:

1. They skimp on radios, so a Samsung will typically drop an active call before anyone else, all other things being equal.

2, They use the iPhone form factor (physical home button located below screen). I like the Nexus form factor (soft keys, no physical buttons on the face).

The second alone would be fine, personal preference and all. But the signal thing is just too much. And now you can't use a memory card with them. The cheap is just too high for the asking price.

Had an S5 a year ago - too much boat - was laggy.
Now I have an iPhone 6 and am selling it this week on eBay and getting a 6 Plus.
I have no complaints on the iPhone - I wish the battery lasted longer, but I have a lightning cable everywhere I go.
Resale value of apple products is pretty amazing.  I bought the iPhone 6 the week it came out - and mine is selling all over eBay for $500.

I wish the iPhone had the OLED screen of the S5 though - that thing was beautiful.

One thing that sucks is just 2 weeks ago I bought a special case for my phone - carbon fiber, and now Im getting rid of the phone. :/

One of my schoolmates has got a Sam Galaxy Trend...By what I've seen so far,it isn't worse than other brands...

It might be just the unexperienced me,but...Isn't brand judging outdated by decades?

S4 and s5 are good.

S6 has no sd card slot. And no removal battery. Sucks!

You like s6, then that's fine.

It's your decision.

Or just using logic and reason. Personally I prefer using Nexus phones.

Different phones for different needs. I am personally ok with 64 GB internal and no expandable. It's what I have on my iPhone 6 and Galaxy S6. I use Google Photos (unlimited storage for cloud photos so I can view every single picture/video I have ever taken), and Play Music All Access (store all my music via cloud, and stream music I don't have). I'm sitting with 45 GB free on my S6 right now. This is with 4 GB of music stored internally, 1.5 GB of pictures, and cached Here maps + tons of other apps. I haven't used removable batteries since the Galaxy Nexus (and that phone needed it!). I get 3 days of battery on my S6, and have portable battery chargers if I need. Battery cases have also popped up, if you're into that. I don't see a need for removable batteries for me - don't like restarting my phone if I can avoid it.

If you want removable battery and expandable storage, get the LG G4.
