High system memory/ possible memory leak in Build 10162

Recommended Posts

Hello, me and several of my friends have been expirencing abnormal memory usage for system. When I am not doing much, the usage is around 80-120mb. However when I go into a game and play it a few minutes, this value can rocket upto 650mb. This value can be higher as a friend, who has more ram, has expirenced 1.2gb memory usage.

thats no mem leak lol thats normal nothing wrong with that. i though hey mem leak it would go over gigs but that is normal as your system is using the memory properly. my "system" sits at 145 idle also

I'm highly confident that this high system ram usage is due to something with graphics. Because it only goes to 650mb+ when I play video games. othertimes it's at it's normal range

It's caching the game dll files in system reserved memory.  Has nothing to do with graphics.  You don't have a memory leak or anything of the sort.

I know it isn't a memory leak, I've not had time to change the title. But why is it caching now and not in 8.1? What changed to make this happen?

Could be about 20 different things including system hardware, bios configuration, UEFI vs MBR, NTFS vs Paragon, etc etc.

The EXACT same config has been used for both OSs and I have only encountered this issue in 10162.

Can you post a screenshot of the memory view from the windows Task Manager instead?

During gameplay or when just using firefox /w youtube?. Because if it's gameplay, I would need about 10 minutes

Well, if the previous "config" was a build prior to 10162, then it was a different "config".   You know my 2015 Subaru WRX handles quite a bit different than my 2012 WRX, even if they're both 4 door dual exhaust, 305 HP turbo'd STI's.

On the other hand, if you were running the exact same kernel's, drivers, etc etc and you were seeing different symptoms, that would be a different story.

Edit:  Also, if you had a memory leak, if you didn't reboot after playing the game or whatever, it would stay level until either you rebooted or you played the game more in which it would continue to rise more until all available memory and page file is used, and your system would crash.   Beyond that, you're just being a hypotechdriac.
