steam CD Key issues

Recommended Posts

i have a problem with steam right now. i want to play CS 1.6 with my current edition of half life (which is legit). i go to type in my CD key and it says that my key is a duplicate CD Key. I then realized i had made a steam account years ago...and i forgot everything about it...username, pass, email...you name it. all i know is my cd key.

i want to know if theres any way i can recover my key or reset it so i can use it on my new account?

any solutions?

oh btw, calling them doesn't help either

they asked me to send a jpg of the cdkey to them, then they gave me three different sets of cdkeys, NONE of them worked on steam

they said the reason keys don't work is because there are key gens out there that actually generate vaild cdkeys.

so they dont even have keys that work!? what the hell is that about. maybe THEY should use keygens...pfft..

well, the GOTY boxed copy they UPSed me worked

quite frankly, it's hit and miss because they don't even know

everything kawai is saying is bull****.

right, and you know this how?

i have sets of cdkeys that valve gave me via email and phone and none of them work

before you accuse me of something, may be you should provide some evidence

Some vaild keys don't work because it's already being tied to a steam account by people who used key gen.

don't believe me? get on steam's froum and you will see tons of examples

once the key is tied to a steam account, it's bound to that account forever, and the key cannot be used again.

screw it...im just gonna play CS 1.5 i guess i dont get to use a riot shield....

if i find half life at safeway or walmart for 6 bucks (which i bet i will eventually), ill grab it...until then, this is not worth this headache.

kawai its really pointless to make stuff up, i could care less to argue with someone whose sole purpose in life is to spread lies and create arguements. i do think its rude your misleading another forum member purposly. valve do not give out cd keys over the phone or via email with a jpg of your cdkey. as far as key gens having correct keys which work with steam, that is possible. keys issued for cs and hl are of course stored in a database so if a keygen does correctly match a key in this database which has not yet been activated via steam that person would have access to steam. if the person ever does activate it via steam and sends that cd key to valve, they will invalidate that steam account thus the keygen'd key will no longer validate and the customer who purchased which ever game is sent a replacement key in the mail.
