Sony confirms online plans

Nice find, but why didn't they just ask:

1. Do you want us to imitate Xbox Live to the best of our abilities?

lol jk don't get your panties in a bunch :)

Sony say they're having an online service, people say they're copying LIVE.

Sony say they're not having a online service, people say they should make one like LIVE.

What do you want?

well :D Sony is in same position with PS3 as Microsoft with Windows.

Damned if they do, damned if they don't.

But I think its too late for Sony to have an integration to the level offered by XBOX360...assuming they were not developing one already.

Hmm... that's right, everyone is still under NDA and can't say anything until Sony says so...

If it isn't in the Feb. event, then it probably doesn't exist.

Even If they implement a Live-like feature, I don't see it being the same quality as Live 360. Not even Close.

But it's a good thing they've realized they're actually in the 21st century, and that people may want a better choice of competition and a better choce of how to do so. ;)

GameShout usually greats a big story out of a small comment.

This is probably based on the questionnaire that's making the rounds.

Although I don't doubt Sony is working on a Live-esque system, I think GameShout has jumped the gun.

nice plagiarism sony lol

People will complain no matter what they do.

If they don't introduce a service like Xbox Live, people won't be happy, and if they do, people like you will say it's plagiarism.

But you also have to look at the people who worship the ground Ken Kutaragi walks on.

If Sony releases a Live-like service: "Wow! Sony Live is so awesome! Xbox Live has nothing on this!"

If Sony doesn't release a Live-like service: "Who cares? Nobody wants it, anyway."

Yeah, that's how it always is. It might not be the same people taking both sides, but there's enough fanatics to make it seem that way.

I think the main thing Sony should do is provide universal gamertags. Downloadable content, etc. is pretty much a given for them at this point. Anything else, and it's just gravy (and a paid subscription service).

They have to do it, it would be suicide not to, especially for this coming generation. That's why I was so surprised when the first reports of them having a service similar to PS2 for the PS3 was reported.
