MSBlog Exclusive: Vista Beta 2 is public!

Recommended Posts

Today, Microsoft will make Windows Vista Beta 2 available to the masses for downloading in three different languages. If you can’t download you don’t have to worry, there will be also an option to order it on DVD media later my informant told me. The released build number will be 5384.4, same as the technical beta. Today is a big step forward to let the end-user have a look at Microsoft’s upcoming operating system and of course to let them tryout all new features. While waiting for a screenshot collection from us don’t hesitate and download it before the big rush will occur!

Please microsoft let it be any newer build than 5384.4... I already have that one legally activated...

Why are people already talking about drivers in the beta? Nobody knows what it will be...

anyone know how driver complete this one is? If i install it will i have massive driver issues?

Try Windows Vista Upgrade Advisor, it should tell you what drivers you are missing.

So is there an option to not install it over xp? Even if there is I guess I have to buy partionmagic first..

I would use Acronis Disk Director Suite...you can create a new partition without losing you xp or any data..plus its really safe and reliable.

Partition Magic does the same and is safe and reliable as well.

There are also quite reliable free ones. I'd trust them, anyway, never had a problem.

Would I be able to run a basic Vista installation with a 2.6 GHz processor and 1 GB of RAM? I don't want to install it on my laptop (unless this is pretty reliable) because all of my school stuff is on it.

EDIT: Actually, I don't need my notes anymore, and I don't need the laptop in school. I'll just reinstall XP next September.

Enjoy guys, but be prepared for some hardware incompatibility. Specifically my Audigy 2 ZS sounds like ass in both 5384 and 5381, curse creative and thier 6 month old drivers.

Btw is everyone else getting access denied for the MS link?

Yes...because the link isn't available yet.

"At the moment access to these download links is restricted.

Microsoft will enable them for public download later!"
